viking Shield

Finally got this finished, has only been in the pipe line for about 6 months.
30 inch fully leather carved shield with 4 separate scenes. Originally there was only going to be one scene but that made putting a boss in almost impossible and I’d have to say that it looks better with one included.
The leather is laid on 12mm plywood and the edge is rawhide laced onto the shield with thick cow rawhide lace. All together it weighs a ton and could’nt see me being the one to carry it into battle! I’ll leave that to the pro’s.
The pro’s being members of the glasgow vikings and one in particular who has written three great books about a certain group of vikings called the Oathsworn. Best books I’ve had the privilege to read in a long while - Robert Low.
