Help for Heros - sponsored walk
31/03/2010 by Paul Carpenter.
Hi all - apart from most things I do these days I have hiked in various places since my old army days - 20 years later and a new generation of my family is serving and during much more hectic times - for this reason and because of one particular Munro which has caused me trouble’s during the many times I have tried to get to it - I decided to do it this june as a sponsored walk which should not only guarentee a determination to get to it but hopfully raised some much needed cash for not just the hero’s in my family but all the others as well.
if you feel like donating, thanks - visiting my webpage - http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Carpenter
here’s hoping that the worsed they all come home with is a deep tan.

Onwards with a new book adventure
21/03/2010 by Paul Carpenter.
Somehow I have near enough finished a years college work in two months so have decided to spent my time working on the new books idea I mention on my portfolio page.
having published a book before has given me some insight into the process but that was an adult travel book not a childs book - so slightly different in that I do not need to write quite as many works ( save a fortune on proof readers) but have to draw.
This is just a trial, one of many trials but it gives the general way I draw at the moment - first I do a rough sketch taking the characters from sketches I’m doing of them in different poses, then use a tablet to draw the coloured version into the computer.
If you have’nt visited my portfolio yet, these stories are based around the adventures of jim and judy - their adventures in turn being very loosly based on things I got upto as a kid. This first story, as can be seen revolves around a pirate ship and a surprise birthday party, but I won’t say any more then that.
So far I’ve managed to finish the story board and about 10 of the illustrations needed and am now spending wonderful afternoons in the childs corner of my local library or old books we got our kids researching books and should start on the writing very soon.
As they say; writing for children is very different then writing for adults and once I feel I’ve developed the kid in me enough or grasp a bit of the imagination I once had as a kid, then ink will flow - onto paper not the floor!! plus receiving a signed copy of ‘The prow beast’ from Robert low today only helped to encourage my writing wizardry.

Horse typographical portrait
03/03/2010 by Paul Carpenter.
Have had a few comments about how I could do a portrait in just words from more then a few people, but instead of showing the one I did of my gorgouse wife and grizzely me you can all sigh with huge relief as I am using the horse protrait to display this little miracle.
This file is quite large but atleast at that size your see most of the words and how I arranged them to portray the features etc;
